Patch Now or Pay Later: June’s Microsoft Updates Drop a Bomb!

Alright, listen up, because June’s Patch Tuesday just landed, and it’s packing some serious heat. Microsoft dropped a boatload of security fixes, including several critical remote code execution (RCE) vulnerabilities and, yep, an actively exploited bug in SharePoint.

This month’s update addresses 59 vulnerabilities across various Microsoft products. Among the most concerning is CVE-2024-30080, a privilege escalation vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint Server that’s already being actively exploited in the wild[1]. This means attackers are already using this flaw to gain higher privileges on compromised systems. Beyond that, we’re looking at critical RCEs in Microsoft Message Queuing (CVE-2024-30082), Microsoft Outlook (CVE-2024-30088), and multiple RCEs in Microsoft Exchange Server (CVE-2024-30089, CVE-2024-30091)[2]. That’s a whole lot of ways for bad actors to take over your systems if you’re not patched up.

So, what’s the big deal? If your organization runs SharePoint, Exchange, Outlook, or uses Message Queuing, you’re a prime target. An actively exploited vulnerability in SharePoint means attackers are already leveraging it to breach networks. Failing to patch these critical RCEs is like leaving your front door wide open while waving a “free data” sign. Developers and security teams need to prioritize these updates immediately to prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, and potential complete system compromise.

Look, patching isn’t just a best practice; it’s non-negotiable. Stop reading this, go tell your ops team, and make sure those updates are deployed ASAP. Your network’s integrity (and your weekend plans) depends on it.
