Freelancer Hourly Rate Calculator

Freelancer Hourly Rate Calculator

Start from PKR in the bank. Reverse Upwork/Fiverr, Payoneer or Wise, and optional FBR 0.25% into a USD hourly to quote.

$0.00/hr

Same stacks as the Payoneer and Payoneer vs Wise calculators on CodeCrackers. Edit percentages to match a receipt.

Most rate calculators divide a salary by hours and stop. Pakistani freelancers lose Upwork or Fiverr first, then Payoneer FX, then optional FBR 0.25%. This page runs that stack backwards: you type the PKR you need in the bank, and it tells you the USD hourly to put on the proposal.

Default — Rs 200,000/month, 80 billable hours, Upwork 10%, Payoneer PKR at 2% + 2% FX, rate 278, FBR on:

Quote$10.43/hr
Bill this month$834.41
You keep~Rs 200,000
If you still charge $8/hryou keep ~Rs 153,000 — about Rs 47,000 short

How to use this freelancer hourly rate calculator

  1. Type the PKR you actually need in HBL / Meezan / JazzCash after everything.
  2. Add software, internet, and Coworking as expenses if you want a conservative floor.
  3. Billable hours are hours you invoice, not hours you sit at the desk. 80 is a honest month. 160 is a fantasy unless you have a retainer and no proposals.
  4. Pick Upwork 10% unless the contract shows 15% or 5%. Fiverr is 20%.
  5. Leave the rail on Payoneer → PKR unless you truly cash out through Wise.

The headline number is what to quote. The grey box is what your current rate actually delivers.

Why “income ÷ hours” underprices Pakistani freelancers

A Harvest-style page for Pakistan is a SaaS landing page. It does not know Upwork exists. LearnBit-style blogs list $12–$25/hr for web dev and never show the drag.

On the default Payoneer PKR stack you keep about 86% of gross after Upwork 10%, withdrawal, FX, and 0.25% FBR. So:

hourly to quote = (target PKR + expenses) ÷ rate ÷ 0.86 ÷ billable hours

That is the same identity as the $1,000 example on the Payoneer page ($862.20 kept). This calculator just solves for the hourly.

Switch the rail to Wise ACH and the quote drops because conversion is ~0.63% instead of ~4% Payoneer drag. Switch to Fiverr 20% and the quote jumps. That is the point.

80 hours is not laziness

A 40-hour week is 160 clock hours. Freelancers lose proposals, unpaid revisions, client Slack, and invoices that slip. If you really invoice 120 hours, type 120. If you type 160 to make the hourly look cheap, you will miss the PKR target and blame the market.

What Pakistani specialists actually charge (context, not this tool)

Published 2025–26 ranges for international clients, not local agencies:

SkillTypical USD/hr
VA / data entry$3–12
Content / design$5–30
WordPress / frontend$12–40
Backend / Flutter$20–60
DevOps / AI$30–90+

This calculator does not tell you the market ceiling. It tells you the personal floor. If the floor is $10.43 and the market for your niche is $25, quote $25. If the floor is $18 and you have been quoting $8, the market is not the problem.

FBR, expenses, and quoting

Eligible IT exporters receiving through a bank often sit on 0.25% final tax, not the salary slab table. Toggle it to match your situation. It is not advice.

Expenses are added to the PKR target before the reverse. Internet + ChatGPT + Hostinger on a $8/hr habit is how people stay at Rs 150k forever.

When you put the hourly on Upwork, put the gross. Clients do not care that Payoneer exists. You already grossed it up.

What this tool will not do

  • Live FX or Payoneer/Wise quotes
  • Salary-slab income tax
  • Decide your niche rate
  • Count Connects, Fiverr extras, or unpaid test tasks

Edit the percentages when a receipt disagrees. The identity stays: target PKR → gross USD → hourly.

FAQ — Rank Math FAQ block

Q: How much should a Pakistani freelancer charge on Upwork?
A: Whatever survives fees and still hits your PKR target. At Rs 200,000/month, 80 hours, Upwork 10%, Payoneer PKR, FBR 0.25%, that is about $10.43/hr in this model. Specialists quote more because the market allows it. This is the floor.

Q: Why 80 billable hours?
A: A 40-hour week is not 160 invoiced hours. Proposals and unpaid comms eat the rest. Raise it only if you actually bill that.

Q: Does this include FBR?
A: Optionally 0.25% for eligible IT exporters receiving through a bank. Not the salary slab. Not advice.

Q: Should I use Wise instead of Payoneer in this calculator?
A: If you can actually receive on Wise (ACH / existing account), yes — the quote will be lower. Fiverr still pays Payoneer. New Pakistani Wise sign-ups may be restricted. Use the Payoneer vs Wise calculator first.

Q: Is this official Upwork math?
A: No. It uses public Upwork 0–15% fees, the same Payoneer/Wise stacks as the other CodeCrackers tools, and the USD→PKR rate you type.
