Ivanti Zero-Days: Your VPN Just Became a State-Sponsored Backdoor.

Ivanti Connect Secure and Policy Secure appliances are under siege. Multiple critical vulnerabilities are being actively exploited by sophisticated threat actors, including nation-state groups, to bypass authentication and execute remote code[1].

Specifically, CVE-2023-46805 (authentication bypass) and CVE-2024-21887 (command injection) were initially exploited in the wild, allowing unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary commands[2]. More recently, CVE-2024-21888 (privilege escalation) and CVE-2024-21893 (server-side request forgery) have emerged, providing attackers with even more avenues to persist and take full control of affected systems[3]. CISA has issued emergency directives, urging all federal agencies and private organizations using these products to apply patches immediately and conduct thorough compromise assessments.

So what? If your organization uses Ivanti Connect Secure or Policy Secure VPNs, you’re a prime target. These vulnerabilities allow attackers to gain initial access to your network, move laterally, and exfiltrate data without authenticated credentials. This isn’t just a patch-and-forget situation; you absolutely need to hunt for signs of compromise, as many organizations were breached *before* patches were even available. Attackers are using custom malware and backdoors to maintain persistence[4].

Seriously, if you’re running Ivanti, drop everything and audit your systems. This isn’t just some run-of-the-mill exploit; it’s a direct pipeline for serious adversaries into your crown jewels. Patching is step one, but assume breach and hunt relentlessly. Your network security depends on it.
