Critical Alert: Ivanti Zero-Days Under Relentless Attack – Patch Now!

In the last 24 hours, the already dire situation surrounding critical vulnerabilities in Ivanti Connect Secure and Policy Secure gateways has escalated, with multiple threat actors actively exploiting these flaws to breach corporate networks worldwide. This isn’t just a theoretical threat; it’s an ongoing, widespread compromise impacting organizations across various sectors.[1]

The vulnerabilities, including CVE-2023-46805 (authentication bypass), CVE-2024-21887 (command injection), CVE-2024-21888 (privilege escalation), CVE-2024-21893 (SSRF), and the recently disclosed CVE-2024-22024 (XML external entity vulnerability), create a severe attack chain. These flaws allow unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary commands with elevated privileges, effectively giving them full control over affected devices.[2] Multiple state-sponsored groups and financially motivated ransomware gangs are leveraging these zero-days, deploying backdoors, web shells, and other persistence mechanisms.[3]

So What? Why You Should Care, Now.

If your organization uses Ivanti Connect Secure or Policy Secure VPNs, this is a five-alarm fire. These devices are typically deployed at the very edge of your network, acting as a critical gateway for remote access. A compromise here means attackers can bypass your perimeter defenses, gain initial access, move laterally, and exfiltrate sensitive data without much resistance. We’re talking about direct access to internal systems, potential ransomware deployment, and complete network takeover. The broad adoption of Ivanti products means a huge attack surface is currently exposed and under active assault. Ignoring this is akin to leaving your front door wide open with a “Welcome Hackers!” sign.[4]

Seriously, stop reading and go patch your Ivanti devices. If you can’t patch immediately, isolate them. Also, assume compromise and hunt for indicators of attack. This isn’t a drill; it’s a full-blown crisis for many IT and security teams right now. Get on it!
